Let me start off by saying that I am not a fan of riding rollercoasters, but I am a huge fan of watching them. I could sit and watch rollercoasters for hours at a time. I don’t know if that is because I am not even close to being brave enough to ride them and am fascinated by those who do or if it is the thrill of watching these speedsters fly across the tracks exciting and terrifying those who are on board. Either way it has become a sort of passion for me to sit and watch rollercoasters and I will tell you that one of my favorites is SheiKra at Busch Gardens Tampa.
SheiKra is a steel dive roller coaster that is 200 feet at its tallest point and contains 3,188 feet of track. If you are brave enough to climb aboard this insane coaster you will find yourself stopped at the top of a 200 foot 90 degree drop hanging there for around 4 seconds before you speed down the drop reaching 70mph by the time you reach the bottom. Near the end SheiKra dives towards water and soaks onlookers by the Stanleyville Train Station. It is rather enjoyable to go near that area and see as either suspecting or unsuspecting spectators are drenched.
The name SheiKra is derived from “shikra”, an Asian-African hawk that is known to dive vertically for it’s prey.* The entire ride lasts around 2 minutes and 20 seconds and to me looks like an amazing experience for any thrill seeker! I will choose to watch from afar and enjoy watching SheiKra as she continuously terrifies and entertains park visitors at Busch Gardens Tampa.
Have you experienced SheiKra? Let me know what you thought!
